Bernard was recognized in the Fulton County Daily Report for his recent win in a federal asset forfeiture trial. Our client was a respected pilot who unknowingly flew two drug traffickers to and from Atlanta with luggage containing on average 150-200 kilograms of cocaine. The pilot was told that they were in the oil business and that their luggage contained surveying equipment. In 2009, federal agents apprehended the individuals, as well as our client, and arrested them on drug charges. In 2010, a federal jury acquitted the client on the criminal charges but the government still insisted on attempting to forfeit the airplane. On June 4th, after a week long civil forfeiture trial, a jury found in favor of our client and the airplane must now be returned by the government.
