Our client was a former Union City police officer who was indicted on child molestation charges in Fulton County Superior Court.
First, we successfully negotiated the extradition of our client from the Virgin Islands (St. Thomas). Once he was released, we retained an expert who was able to discover several flaws with the techniques used in the forensic interview of the child. We also investigated the child’s mother and learned that she had a motive to encourage her daughter to make these accusations against our client. With the results of our investigation and the assistance of our expert, we were able to convince the DA’s office to dismiss the child molestation charges and allow our client to enter a plea to a misdemeanor offense.
